Welcome to the new and improved REA website

Exciting News from the Co-Founders and Trustees

12th May 2025

Behind the scenes, we’ve been working tirelessly to build a strong foundation for the Research Ethics Association. We’re delighted to share that our application for charitable status has now been approved, and we are in the final stages of the process, awaiting our charity number and confirmation of official status.

Alongside this, we’ve developed a comprehensive recruitment programme to expand our team of trustees, volunteers, and officers, ensuring REA continues to grow with integrity and purpose. Our research arm is also progressing rapidly, with extensive work on research strategies and policies, and exciting plans for a dedicated academic journal. Looking ahead, we are beginning early preparations for our next international conference in 2026.

We’re incredibly grateful to all our members, supporters, and visitors for being part of REA’s journey. Thank you for your continued encouragement and belief in what we are building together.

With thanks

Unifying Academia & Industry for Cross-Discipline Research Ethics

Welcome to the Research Ethics Association (REA), based in the UK. Established in 2019, REA began as a volunteer-led conference in the South West and Wales, dedicated to promoting cross-discipline research ethics. We've since evolved into a formal international association, uniting academia, industry, and organisations. Our mission is two-fold: to advocate for ethical research and bridge academia and industry across all disciplines for collaboration. REA aims to create dialogues, heightens awareness, and encourages global engagement with research ethics. We challenge norms, champion responsible research, and shape a multidisciplinary approach to ethics.
